Spent the day digging for hidden treasure at the famous Dugway Geode Beds out in the Utah West Desert. It’s amazing to think these plain, chalky round rocks have been hiding sparkly quartz crystals, clear points, and soft pastel centers since the epoch of ancient volcanoes and prehistoric lakes!
We brought the heavy-duty gear, got super dusty, and cracked open a few beauties on-site. Nothing beats the thrill of the "crack and reveal!" 💎
Quick Trip Tips
Location: Public BLM land in Juab County, roughly a dusty off-grid drive past Simpson Springs.
Cost: Free to dig and collect!
Packing Essentials: Shovels, a 3-lb rock hammer, safety glasses, thick work gloves, a sturdy bucket, and way more water than you think you need.
Vehicle Note: High-clearance vehicles or 4WD are heavily recommended for the rough dirt roads—and always check your spare tire before heading out!
