The Women’s Resource Center is a 501(C)3 nonprofit focused on providing women of all ages and backgrounds with support, resources, and services. For almost 40 years in Sarasota and 30 years in Bradenton, WRC has been a place for women and families to turn to when they are looking for help, guidance, or information. We will continue to be that place and we are here to answer questions, direct indiv

iduals to community resources, and provide our services remotely. The Women’s Resource Center will continue to expand the number of life enrichment classes offered, increase the number of counseling times available, expand the number of hours available for employment skills training and increase the hours available for resume preparation, interview skills, and job searching.

💚 This Mental Health Awareness Month, we’re proud to see our CEO & President, Ashley Brown, joining the conversation on the importance of mental well-being and helping break down the stigma that still prevents so many people from seeking support.

Real strength is found in connection, asking for help, and creating spaces where people feel seen and heard. By having open conversations, we help remind others that they are not alone.

Take a moment to watch Ashley’s interview and join us in continuing to build a community rooted in compassion, understanding, and support.

Recently, our team attended Project 180’s Reentry Simulation, an immersive experience designed to help community leaders better understand the realities many individuals face after incarceration.

The simulation challenged participants to navigate housing, employment, transportation, probation requirements, and other barriers often faced when trying to rebuild life after release. Through real-world scenarios and interactions with professionals in the justice system, the experience brought these challenges into sharp focus.

What made the experience so impactful was the reminder that many people are doing everything they can to create a better future, but often encounter barriers that make rebuilding incredibly difficult.

At WRC, we know that support systems matter. Access to resources, opportunities, and community can change the trajectory of a person’s life. Experiences like this reinforce the importance of compassion, understanding, and working together to create pathways toward success.

Thank you to Project 180 for creating such a powerful experience and for bringing leaders together to move beyond awareness and toward meaningful action. 💜

The WRC team is out and about today! 💙

Our Director of Client Services, Brent, and Program Coordinator, Emily, are spending the day at the 2026 Bank On Suncoast Financial Empowerment Summit, connecting with community leaders, learning from innovative partners, and bringing back ideas that can strengthen financial empowerment opportunities in our community.

We know that financial stability can be life-changing, and collaboration is what helps turn ideas into impact. We’re grateful for opportunities like this to learn, grow, and stand alongside others who are working to create more accessible pathways to financial wellness for all.

Looking forward to a day filled with learning, networking, and meaningful conversations!

When communities come together, healing and restoration become possible. ❤️

The Women's Resource Center believes that preserving history, honoring those who came before us, and supporting one another are all part of building stronger communities.

We invite our community to join the Old Memphis Cemetery Community Cleanup Day and help restore dignity to this historic resting place.

This week, there are two opportunities for us to stand with our neighbors and help restore dignity to the site:
Flower Arranging Gathering — Wednesday, May 20 at 6:00 PM
Community Cleanup at Old Memphis Cemetery — Saturday, May 23 at 9:00 AM

Bring your helping hands, gloves, and community spirit as volunteers work together on beautification, debris removal, and restoration efforts ahead of Memorial Day.

Together, we can honor the generations laid to rest there and show that compassion and unity are stronger than acts of harm.

MANATEE COUNTY, FL (May 15, 2026) – Manatee County Government, in partnership with the City of Palmetto and City of Bradenton, will host a cleanup and beautification effort at Old Memphis Cemetery on Saturday, May 23, beginning at 9 a.m.
