💛 Manatee Location Update: We Have Power!

We’re happy to share some good news, power has been restored at our Manatee Ave location! Our internet and phones are back online, and we’re making great progress toward reopening.

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who has reached out, offered support, and checked in on our team. We have truly felt the love from our community.

A special thank-you to Brent Brown and the team at B & B Electrical Innovations for their quick response and hard work getting us safely back online.

📅 Reopening Monday, September 21: We will be fully operational at our Manatee Ave building beginning Monday!

We’ll continue to share updates as plans develop for rebuilding the damaged portion of the building.

Thank you again for your continued support. We’re incredibly grateful for our rockstar team and the community standing behind us. 💛

Twenty-five years ago today, our community and our country changed forever. On this National Day of Service and Remembrance, we pause to honor the lives lost, the first responders who ran toward danger, and the families who have carried that loss ever since.

At the Women's Resource Center, we're reminded that resilience is often built quietly in communities that show up for one another when it matters most. Today, we remember. And this week we were reminded of the importance of the work we do and the value of being part of a community that cares.

An Update from the Women's Resource Center

By now, many of you have heard that a small fire broke out at our Bradenton office on September 10th. We've been overwhelmed, in the best way, by the calls, texts, and messages checking on our team. That outpouring says everything about the community we get to serve.

Here's what matters most: every staff member, client, and volunteer is safe. The fire was contained to a small area of the main building, and we're deeply grateful to the City of Bradenton Fire Department, the Bradenton Police Department, and all the first responders whose fast, skilled work kept this from becoming something much worse.

Cleanup is already underway, thank you to the team at SERVPRO! We're targeting Monday, September 21st to reopen our doors in Bradenton.

We're still assessing the full extent of the damage, and it will take time to know the total scope of work and cost of repairs to WRC. What we do know is this: our Bradenton home will need help getting back to where it needs to be, a place where women and families can walk in and feel safe.

We're so grateful to everyone who has already reached out to offer support. We'll keep you posted as we learn more and identify ways you can help.

While the Bradenton office is closed in the short term, our Sarasota and Venice offices are fully operational, and our Resource Advisors are available at 941-256-9721 during business hours for anyone who needs us.

To everyone who has called, written, or simply held us in their thoughts this week, thank you. This community has always shown up for us, and this week has been no exception.

A big thank you to Manatee County Agriculture and Extension Service for supporting the Women’s Resource Center through their recent Clothing Swap! 💜

The event gave community members an opportunity to bring clean, gently used clothing, discover new-to-them styles, and help reduce textile waste—all while giving back. We’re so grateful that clothing remaining from the event was donated to the Women’s Resource Center to support the women we serve.

These donations help provide women in our community with clothing for work, interviews, everyday needs, and new beginnings. We’re grateful for community partners who find creative ways to make a difference while also promoting sustainability.

Thank you, Manatee County Agriculture and Extension Service, for thinking of WRC and the women in our community!

A heartfelt thank you to the Manatee Unitarian Universalist Fellowship for their continued support of the Women’s Resource Center! 💜

This summer, the Fellowship selected WRC as their nonprofit partner for two Sundays, generously donating their collections to support the women we serve. We were so grateful to receive a $500 check from their congregation!

We’re especially thankful for community partners like Manatee Unitarian Universalist Fellowship who continue to believe in our mission year after year. Your generosity helps ensure women in our community have access to the resources, support, and opportunities they need to move forward and thrive.

👜 Giving Back is in Style! 💙

Our amazing Unique Boutique volunteer Linda and Director of Retail & Clothing, Becky, picked up more than 100 beautiful handbags donated to support the Women’s Resource Center!

Through Brighton Collectibles The Mall At University Town Center Handbag Trade-In event, more than 150 handbags were donated in total, an incredible show of generosity that will help the women we serve feel confident and supported as they take their next steps.

A huge thank you to Brighton and everyone who donated for supporting WRC. We’re so grateful for community partners who help us empower women, one handbag at a time! 💕👜
