Attn Homeowners! Don't let the freezing temps sneak up on you before you've winterized your home.

👇 Here is my winter prep checklist. Taking care of these now can prevent costly repairs later!

1) Service your furnace and chimney – Make sure your heating system is clean and working efficiently before the cold hits.

2) Protect your pipes – Insulate exposed pipes under sinks, in attics, crawl spaces, or along exterior walls. Let faucets drip on frigid nights and know where your main shut-off valve is, just in case.

3) Insulate your attic – Adding insulation is one of the best long-term investments to keep your home warm and your energy bills lower.

4) Clean and inspect gutters – Clear out debris so melting snow and ice can drain properly.

5) Check your roof – Repair any loose or missing shingles to prevent leaks and ice damage.

6) Disconnect outdoor hoses – Drain and store hoses, and turn off exterior spigots to avoid burst pipes.

7) Change air filters – Help your furnace run efficiently all season long.

8) Install storm windows and doors – Add an extra layer of insulation and protection if you have them.

We all know and love Boo at the Zoo (through Oct. 26) and Pumpkins Aglow at the Franklin Park Conservatory (Oct. 15 through Nov. 2), but here are a few other fall favorites worth checking out ⤵️

Fairfield County Trail of Scarecrows-Autumn Experience — Over 250 creative scarecrows across 15 communities. Each one handcrafted by local businesses and organizations.

Uptown Westerville Inc. Ghost Story Walking Tour — A spooky stroll through historic downtown Westerville, where ghostly tales meet fascinating local history. Held select Friday and Saturday nights in October.

Haunted Ohio Statehouse Tour — I took this tour last year and loved it! Beautiful architecture, rich history, and a few ghostly surprises. Tickets go fast, so be sure to grab yours early!
