Did You Get Your Stimulus Check?
If you've gone to the IRS website and the status of your stimulus check is unavailable, we encourage you to continuously check back in. The IRS is working on adding more and more taxpayers by the day. As of this weekend, you can now add your direct deposit information if the IRS did not have it from your previous filings. The IRS said it may take 20 weeks for each paper check to be mailed. If you provide your bank information, you can get your money significantly quicker.
How to set up direct deposit for your stimulus check
To get started with getting My Payment portal, you may need your 2019 tax return if you have filed, as well as your 2018 return. Because of the high demand for IRS.gov, you may need to wait until it's your turn to access the tool.
1. Head to the IRS' Get My Payment page and tap the blue Get My Payment button to set up a direct deposit for your economic impact payment.
2. On the next page about authorized use tap OK.
3. On the Get My Payment page, enter your Social Security number (SSN), your date of birth, your street address and your ZIP or postal code.
If the IRS has your direct deposit information, you'll see a page giving you the status of your payment. If it doesn't and you are eligible for a check, you can enter your bank account's routing number and account number to have the government send your check to your bank account.
Important note
If you are married filing jointly, either the taxpayer's or spouse's information will suffice in submitting your bank information. The system will only allow you to enter one SSN. You can enter either your information or your spouse's information. Once entered this will cover the entire family, you do not need to submit your bank information twice.
Thank you,
