The Housing Services Department is proud to share a meaningful success made possible through the City’s First-Time Homebuyer Program. On November 21, 2025, a Fairfield family of five, parents and their three daughters, closed on their first home with support from the City.
The family received $80,000 in down payment assistance, helping them overcome the financial barriers that have made homeownership increasingly out of reach for many working families. Their story reflects both the program’s impact and the importance of preserving opportunities for local families to stay in the community they call home.
The family shared the following message of gratitude: “. . . We have three daughters, and with how expensive housing has become, it felt almost impossible to save enough to give them a home here. Thanks to this program, we’re able to stay close to our family and friends. We truly love Fairfield and couldn’t imagine having to move away."
This successful closing highlights the program’s role in keeping Fairfield families connected to their neighborhoods, schools, and support systems while promoting stability and long-term community investment.
The Housing Services team currently has two additional First-Time Homebuyer applications under review, with more residents expressing interest as the program continues to expand access to affordable homeownership. Interested parties can contact the Housing Services Department at (707) 428-7688.
