We had the best time in Mexico. Great surf, great people, and even better food. Our favorite tacos are from Teresa’s tacos🌮, and if you want a really good dinner, go to La Pescadora or MINA. You won’t regret it. It was also so good seeing some good friends stinky's surf school.

Then our trip home turned into two unexpected days in Dallas. We made the most of it, went to Six Flags, and stayed at the Ga***rd Texan

Yes, Vail, CO is expensive. Here’s why locals don’t mind.

It’s expensive because everyone wants to be here, and there’s only so much land between the mountains. The valley is narrow, surrounded by national forest, and there’s no room to build out.

What you get in return is a 10-minute ride to the lifts instead of a three-hour drive on I-70, Booth Falls trail right out your door in the summer, fly fishing on Gore Creek after work, and a village where everyone smiles and waves. 

If you’re thinking about moving to Vail, CO, go in knowing it’s expensive. Then come see why so many of us stayed anyway.

Breckenridge is 55 minutes away, and Clint’s Bakery & Coffee House on Main Street is reason enough to go. Frisco is closer than you’d think at 40 minutes, with a laid-back main street that ends at Dillon Reservoir. Highway 133 from Carbondale to Redstone is the drive to take the week the leaves peak, and Tennessee Pass to Leadville gets you the best views of Colorado’s highest peaks.

Finish the month soaking in the hot springs at Glenwood Springs once the nights turn cold.

Living in Eagle County means all five are an easy day trip. You can be home in time for dinner in Vail Village.
