Fabrication shop meets design studio — that’s Urban Lab Design, tucked into the heart of Mare Island’s industrial area. We toured Tony Orantes’ studio and metal shop, and left impressed.

He said it best — his work “blurs the line between art, architecture, and industrial design.” We were particularly enamored by his floating metal steps.

Sharing a few moments from Dockside Dazzle & the great work from Local Edition Creative & their incredibly talented line up of artists. These painted barrels are now on display Redwood Empire Wh***ey Bar & Tasting Room here in the historic core of Mare Island.

We were so thrilled to have Zulu Heru with us who spoke so eloquently about his own artist journey. His sculpture Farmer the Rigger is for all to see (sans the special fire 🔥effects 🙃)

In collaboration with Local Edition Creative - the Mare Island Dockside Dazzle kicks off Friday, August 7th, 5–8pm at the Historic Core — with a live painting exhibition, the unveiling of Farmer the Rigger, and a chance to meet the sculptor himself, Zulu Heru.
