Up to 25K available for Porter County residents slammed by the June 11 storm

Disaster relief of up to $25,000 is now available for many Hoosiers, after Gov. Mike Braun declared a disaster emergency for 63 Indiana countiesโ€”including Porter Countyโ€”impacted by severe weather, flooding, tornadoes, and derecho on June 11, the Porter County Emergency Management Agency (PCEMA) is announcing.

Porter County residents who incurred damage to their residence and are uninsured or underinsured may be eligible for up to $25,000 through Indiana's State Disaster Relief Fund to help with recovery:

*Assistance is available for eligible homeowners
*Applications are now open.
*Additional counties may qualify as damage assessments continue.

Learn more and apply at https://on.in.gov/sdrf

โ€œThe State Disaster Relief Fund applies only to individuals who are uninsured or underinsured,โ€ PCEMA noted. โ€œState funding cannot replace insurance coverage, which is the primary and best source of protection from storm damage. The fund only addresses the costs of repairing, replacing, or restoring property which is the primary residence of the applicant and may not be used to help pay insurance deductibles.โ€
