We want to apologize to anyone who may have had difficulty reaching us by email today.

Microsoft experienced a widespread outage today, August 31, impacting Outlook and Microsoft 365 users across the country. The outage caused issues with sending and receiving emails, delayed email delivery, and in some cases preventing users from accessing Outlook altogether.

Unfortunately, our office was impacted by the outage as well.

It is our understanding Microsoft has been working throughout the day to resolve the issue, and emails are flowing again. However, they are not necessarily arriving all at once or in the order they were originally sent.

Our staff will be working through messages as they come in and responding as quickly as possible.

If you emailed us today regarding something urgent, time-sensitive, or important and have not received a response, please call our office to talk to the person you were trying to reach. We would much rather have you check in with us than have an important email sitting somewhere waiting to be delivered.

We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate everyone's patience and understanding while Microsoft works to get everything fully back to normal.

The storms that have impacted Northwest Indiana over the past several weeks have been nothing short of devastating. With more than 300,000 houses and businesses losing power, widespread tree and property damage, flooding, and continued storms and rain – our entire region has been put to the test.
Through it all, we could not be prouder of the 1st American Management team. Many of our own employees have been dealing with the exact same challenges as the communities we serve: homes without power and water, closed childcare facilities, storm damage, and families trying to navigate the aftermath.
And yet, they continue to show up. Our office and administrative staff have been working tirelessly – fielding thousands of calls and emails related to storm damage, downed trees, flooding, power outages, vendor coordination, and countless other issues affecting the properties and communities we manage.
Our maintenance team had already been working five and six days a week since the late-July storms, trying to keep up with cleanup and repairs. Following this latest round of severe weather, they are now working seven days a week, putting in long days of clearing debris, addressing damage, responding to emergencies, and doing everything possible to help our communities recover, while Mother Nature continues to throw more storms and rain our way.
There is still a tremendous amount of work ahead of us. We know people are frustrated, tired, and anxious to get their properties and communities back to normal. Our team feels that too.
But every day, they keep answering the phones. They keep responding to emails. They keep climbing into trucks. They keep picking up branches, clearing debris, coordinating contractors, assessing damage, and moving on to the next property needing assistance.
We are incredibly proud of the dedication and work ethic our employees have shown during an extremely difficult few weeks.
To the entire 1st American team: THANK YOU.
Your hard work has not gone unnoticed, and the commitment you continue to show to our clients, our communities, and each other is something we should all be proud of. And to everyone throughout Northwest Indiana working long hours to put our communities back together – utility crews, first responders, public works departments, contractors, tree crews, maintenance teams, and countless others, thank you for everything you are doing.
Northwest Indiana has been hit hard, but there are a lot of amazing people working even harder to help put it back together.

Here we go again. We haven’t finished cleaning up from the last storm and another just hit Porter County.

The Preserve is still closed. Do not go on the trails. It is unsafe in its current state and we don’t yet know how much additional damage has been done from this storm. From the street, we can already see two newly downed trees.
