Outside of telling a senior parent that they can no longer drive, this is probably the most difficult conversation to have. Selling their home and downsizing, relocating closer to family, or going into an assisted living situation. Most people wait until it is a crisis situation to have this discussion because it is not an enjoyable conversation to have. What I have experienced from my work with seniors is that the best situations are where the discusssion has been made and there is a plan in place.
