📍 Local Fact: Did you know Vandalia is the official western terminus of the historic National Road?

Construction on the road began in 1811, and it stopped right here in Vandalia when funding ran out in the 1830s. You can still see the "Madonna of the Trail" statue on the old Statehouse grounds today, honoring the pioneer families who traveled it!

I love learning little pieces of history about the place I get to call home, and get to help others call home too.

Happy Labor Day! Today's a day to slow down and celebrate the hard work that keeps our community running, from teachers to farmers to small business owners.

Tomorrow is the big day! Please read the following 👇

💪 Registration will begin at 7am at the VFW Post in Brownstown. The event will begin at 8am.

💪 ALL participants must check in and sign a waiver.

💪 As always, safey is our top priority. We have been working with the Fayette County Sheriff's Office to ensure the safety of our participants. A safety briefing will be held before the start of the event.

💪 It's going to be a hot one! We will have water stations, restrooms, and chase vehicles available. We ask that all participants exercise caution and hydrate and take breaks as needed.

💪You can still sign up at the Post if you haven't already.

🇺🇲 As we take on those 9 miles, we'll also honor 250 years of American independence and pause to remember the 25th anniversary of 9/11, honoring those we lost, the heroes that answered the call, and the men and woman who have served and sacrificed for our ccountry.

🇺🇲 We have some special surprises lined up for tomorrow and we can't wait to see everyone!!

One of my favorite spots in town? Rogier Park! 🌳

Whether it's a walk on the trail, a picnic with the family, or catching the Festival of Lights display over the holidays, this park has a little something for everyone. It's one of those places that reminds me why I love this community so much — there's always a reason to get outside and enjoy it.
