You could say that the Menzel Group started in the 1970’s as a result of the early days of Chuck surfing the coast of Santa Barbara, Ventura and beyond. As a Santa Barbara native and longtime Ventura County resident, Chuck grew up blocks from the beach and is a lifelong kayaker, surfer, and diver, with a love for the ocean that runs deep. His passion for the coastline, the beach community and buying and selling homes been a foundation of the Menzel group. Chuck has passed that passion to his daughter Shannon and we are excited to bring our experience, motivation and knowledge to you! Chuck and Shannon are here to offer a wide selection of the finest beach homes in Ventura for purchase and vacation rental including ocean front luxury homes, quaint beach cottages and even coastal mountain getaways in the nearby Ojai Valley. If you are seeking the ultimate California lifestyle experience, you will appreciate the authentic, personalized experience that we provide. We look forward to creating a truly memorable coastal vacation or finding your new dream home for you and your family!

JUST SOLD

When I say I know a place, I just might! Sorry, Zillow. You can’t have all the answers. This perfect beach house was an off-market find.

Character and style are packed into this oceanfront home, from Cape Cod-style cedar shake exterior to wood-trim windows. Floor-to-ceiling windows frame a picture-perfect view of the Pacific and our cherished Channel Islands. This one was an absolute dream.

French beach cottage made of wood- I’m all in!

On a peninsula in southwestern France is Cap Ferret. Think rolling hills, sandy dunes, SURF, oyster shacks, and A 1960s minimalist cabin called a ‘Girolle’. In the mid-1960s, a group of architects devised the ‘Girolle’ prefabricated house. It was a creative, simple, high-quality solution to the rise in vacation homes in the area at the time. Wood framing, tiled roofs, and large windows were common themes of a Girolle prefabricated cottage.

TOUTON architectes renovated and restored this cottage, emphasizing outdoor living throughout the home. I love the access to the outdoors from every bedroom and the accordion-style windows in the kitchen. Door and windows always win!

Think Ojai, but in Australia.

Doonan: a rural community tucked into the rolling hills behind Australia’s Sunshine Coast. In the late 1800s, while Ventura County was evolving through agriculture, transportation, and oil, this part of Queensland was growing through timber, farming, and pioneering families looking to carve out a life on the land.

The arrival of the railway in 1891 in a rural coastal town in South East Queensland transformed the region from a timber frontier into a little community, attracting settlers, dairy farmers, and agricultural families. Including James and Jane Duke, who settled in the Edmundi area. Their family would go on to help shape the area, with William Hunt Duke and his wife, Edith, establishing “Eagle Farm” in Doonan in 1917, a dairy and banana farm located on what is now Duke Road.

Hidden among 1.42 acres of greenery, this beautiful Queenslander farmhouse is believed to have originally been a workers’ cottage connected to the Duke family’s farming operation.

Years of stories have filled the walls, and a century-old fig tree still stands on the property. Updated and modernized, the farmhouse is now looking for its next chapter.

And if I haven’t gotten you daydreaming enough about moving into this farmhouse, I’ll leave you with this: it’s just 15 minutes from the beaches of Noosa Heads—a place where I surfed wave after wave until my arms gave out in bathwater-warm water.

This historic Doonan farmhouse will be auctioned on Saturday, June 27, at 2:00 PM.

Ode to a 1925 California Spanish bungalow.

Oak floors, arched entryways, a clay tile roof, and the cutest little breakfast nook you ever did see.

I want to install horizontal surfboard racks in the garage so I can leave the carriage doors open, drink a Coors Original in the yard, and stare proudly at my stylish garage.

A sweet little 2-bedroom with a Jack-and-Jill bathroom setup and all the characteristics they forgot to include in modern builds: an arched plaster fireplace, brass mail slot, divided-light cottage windows, and hand-textured stucco walls.

And yes, the upgrades are covered! Tankless water heater, solar panels and landscaping.

This one will go fast — you can bet my right toe.
