A Category 1 hurricane may be considered the “lowest” category, but there is nothing minor about hurricane impacts. Even lower category storms can bring dangerous winds, flooding, power outages, fallen trees, and damage that can affect our community for days or even weeks.

People often celebrate by:

Giving extra cuddles or gentle pets
Sharing photos/videos of their cats
Treating their cat to toys or treats
Supporting local shelters or cat rescues

Fun fact: not all cats enjoy hugs, so many veterinarians and cat behaviorists recommend watching your cat’s body language and opting for chin scratches or lap time if they prefer that over being held.
