This Monday, we recognize Elizabeth Castro. Elizabeth grew up on Galveston Island, Texas — where she first caught the eye of her Marine as the drum major leading her high school band. He proposed over the phone from boot camp — so they did what many military couples do: a quick civil ceremony first, then a church wedding eleven months later to celebrate with everyone they loved. Twenty-six years later, she has zero regrets.
A cancer survivor, educator of 26 years, and federal policy professional, Elizabeth channels every chapter of her journey into her life's work — empowering military spouses to lead from where they are. She is the founder of RISE™ (risebyelizabeth.com), a coaching and leadership framework, and speaks nationally on resilience and identity for military spouse communities. This , we recognize Sabina Lyszczarczyk. Sabina has been married to her husband Marcus for nearly two years, and together they are raising their daughter, Layla, while navigating the unique challenges and sacrifices of military life. Marcus serves in the Army Reserves and recently completed nearly a year serving abroad — an experience that further shaped Sabina’s resilience, independence, and perspective as a military spouse.
Originally from Illinois, Sabina has built a career in federal government operations, executive support, and project coordination, including previous work with the FBI and USCIS. She currently works as a Project Assistant for a forensic engineering firm while pursuing her MBA through the Gies College of Business at the University of Illinois. After facing the need to pivot professionally during this chapter of military life, she continued investing in her growth and was selected as a recipient of the ThinkGREAT scholarship to support her education. Sabina is passionate about personal growth, resilience, and creating meaningful community for military families. Outside of work and school, she enjoys writing, fitness, travel, and spending quality time with her family. 💪💙

This Monday, we recognize Rachael Massey. Rachael is from Southern California, where she met Patrick when he was stationed at Camp Pendleton. They were together for 6 of his 9.5 years in the Marine Corps. They moved 4 times in those 6 years and spent most of our time in North Carolina where he was stationed at MCAS New River. During their time in North Carolina, Rachael participated in the spouses kickball league, which became a true love of hers. Eventually she became a coach and loved the camaraderie of all of the spouses spending time together and supporting each other.
Rachael has received her Associates in Business Administration and is working towards her Bachelors in Business. As a military spouse she states, “I worked many different jobs while juggling moving a lot.” Once her and Patrick became established in Minnesota, Rachael began her role as an Accounting Specialist with Wohlenberg Ritzman CPA. She has always enjoyed helping people and in this role and found her love of accounting and numbers. “So happy that I found a career that I truly enjoy,” states Rachael. They have been married ten years this year! They have two girls, one born while he was stationed at New River. As I always said, “family life in the military is a certain kind of special. Challenging but also wonderful and exciting.” 💪💙

This Monday, we recognize Julia Stein Dittberner. Julia is Celebrating 20 years of marriage and service in active-duty Navy followed by the Air Force Reserve, Julia and John have much to celebrate! Military and work life have brought the couple to New York, Arizona, Florida, Oklahoma and finally, Minnesota. As an E-6B pilot, John flew two tours in the Middle East and since military retirement now flies the Airbus A330 internationally for Delta Air Lines. Julia and John have two sons: Theo (11) and Micah (8).
Continuing the aviation thread, Julia earned her law degree in Oklahoma and now practices as an aviation attorney at Fafinski, Mark & Johnson, PA in Minnesota. Her passion to draw more women into the field of aviation makes her a regular attendee at Minnesota Women Lawyers events and a dedicated mentee to women law students. Outside of the law, Julia is active in the community, volunteering and serving in leadership roles for a number of organizations. 💪💙
