Welcome to Texas!

With the World Cup bringing visitors from around the world, I wanted to share something many first time visitors don't realize: if you've only seen Dallas or Houston, you've only seen a small piece of Texas.

Texas isn't a place you can truly experience in a few days. Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, Southeast Texas, West Texas, the Panhandle, and the Rio Grande Valley all have their own personalities, cultures, food, history, and way of life. In many ways, each region feels like its own little country.

The distances are bigger. The landscapes are bigger. The diversity of experiences is bigger. That's one reason people love it here.

So while you're here enjoying the matches, don't be afraid to explore a little. Try the local food. Visit a small town. Take a road trip. Talk to people. AND, if a random person waves at you or says hello, don't be surprised. We're probably just being friendly. Feel free to wave back and try saying Yall a few times….

One of the interesting things about walking a house before the drywall goes up is getting to see products most homeowners will never notice once the home is finished.

In this video, I'm looking at Rockwool insulation before the Sheetrock is installed. One of the reasons people choose it is for its sound dampening qualities. It can help reduce noise transfer between rooms and from the outside.

Another benefit is that it's highly fire resistant. Unlike some other insulation products, Rockwool is made from mineral fibers and can withstand extremely high temperatures.

That can be hard to recover from.
