Selling an inherited home is about so much more than the property itself. For many, it comes during an already emotional time and brings a long list of questions and decisions that most people have never had to navigate before.

If you're serving as the executor of an estate, here are three things I always recommend keeping in mind:

✔️ Understand the legal process. Before a home can be sold, the court typically needs to grant the executor the legal authority to move forward.

✔️ Take time to prepare the home. Sorting through years of memories and belongings is often the most emotional part of the process. Giving yourself the time to do this before listing can make a big difference.

✔️ Get an up-to-date home valuation. The market changes over time, so understanding what the home is worth today helps you make informed decisions from the start.
