Real estate followed me to trivia last night. 😂

One of the questions was:

“In real estate, when a property has no mortgage or debt against it, it is owned free and ______.”

Do you know the answer?

CLEAR.

Owning a property free and clear means there is no mortgage or other debt secured by the property. In other words, the owner owns it outright without a home loan attached to it.

Now here’s the real estate part that makes it a little more interesting…

“Free and clear” doesn’t necessarily mean there could never be another issue attached to the property. Things like unpaid taxes, judgments, liens, or other title matters are exactly why a title search is so important when buying a home.

I knew all this real estate knowledge would come in handy somewhere…even at trivia night. 😂

A thought from my walk this morning…

Every house I pass has a story.

Somebody bought their first home there.
Somebody raised their children there.
