🚨 Winter Storm Alert 🚨

Freezing temps are ahead this weekend, and frozen pipes can cause major headaches. H.G. Heinz is a just a call away if your pipes freeze or if you’re furnace quits - but to prevent an emergency, follow these tips to keep your home safe ⤵️

Before the Cold Sets In:

✔️ Insulate exposed pipes, especially in unheated areas like basements, attics, or garages.
✔️ Disconnect and store outdoor hoses, and shut off water to outdoor spigots.
✔️ Seal any cracks or gaps near pipes to keep cold air out.
✔️ Keep garage doors closed if water supply lines are inside.

When Temperatures Stay Below Freezing:

🔥 Let faucets drip to keep water moving, especially at night.
🔥 Open cabinet doors under sinks to allow warm air to circulate around pipes.
🔥 Keep your thermostat set to the same temperature day and night to avoid drops.
🔥 Use space heaters safely to warm areas where pipes are vulnerable.

If Your Pipes Freeze:

❄️ Turn off the water supply immediately to prevent leaks.
❄️ Gently thaw frozen pipes with a hair dryer or space heater—never use an open flame.
❄️ Call H.G. Heinz at 812-882-2480 if you’re unable to locate or safely thaw the frozen pipe.
