The Right House Matters More Than the Interest Rate

One of the most common concerns I hear from homebuyers today is, “Should I wait for interest rates to come down?”

It’s a fair question. Interest rates affect monthly payments, and everyone wants the best deal possible. However, after years of helping families buy and sell homes, I’ve learned something important:

Finding the right home is often more important than finding the perfect interest rate.

Interest Rates Change — Your Dream Home May Not Wait

The reality is that interest rates go up and down. They always have, and they always will. Trying to perfectly time the market is nearly impossible.

The home that fits your family’s needs, location preferences, budget, and lifestyle may not be available six months or a year from now. Someone else may purchase it while you’re waiting for rates to drop.

I’ve seen buyers delay their search hoping for lower rates, only to discover that home prices increased or inventory became even more limited.

You Can Refinance a Mortgage

One of the biggest advantages of buying now is that interest rates are not permanent.

If rates decrease in the future, many homeowners have the opportunity to refinance and potentially lower their payment.

But there is one thing you cannot refinance:

You cannot refinance into the house you wish you had purchased.
