One thing people don't realize about home staging is just how many books 📚 it takes!

We don't just place a few novels on a shelf and call it a day. Every coffee table, bookcase, nightstand, and decorative tray seems to demand its own carefully "curated stack".

At this point, we're convinced that half of staging is interior design 🛋️ and the other half is running a traveling library 📚 📚

Staging this property came with a few layout challenges. The home opens directly into the living room, which has limited space and serves as a pass-through to multiple rooms. To keep the flow open and functional, we used only a sofa in the living room.

The family room also had a challenging layout due to the large bay window, so we created a comfortable seating area with a large accent chair and a loveseat.

The primary bedroom presented the opposite challenge—it was exceptionally large. To help define the space and show its potential, we furnished it with a king bed, large nightstands, a bench, and a small sofa, demonstrating several possible furniture arrangements.

We staged this vacant property with the goal of creating a cohesive flow throughout the entire home, despite the house featuring three different design styles. By thoughtfully repeating materials, textures, and tones throughout the space, we were able to visually connect the entire house into one unified design story. The dark wood tones from the kitchen were carried into other areas of the home, while the raw wood ceiling was complemented through smaller natural wood accents and decor elements throughout the property.

We also incorporated lifestyle details and connection points to help buyers emotionally connect with the home and envision themselves living there. White elements and greenery were used to soften the kitchen and bathroom spaces while bringing freshness, warmth, and a subtle indoor-outdoor feel into the home.

Furniture was strategically arranged to highlight the best layout and functionality of each room, while also helping buyers understand the scale and purpose of every space.

Staging this small coastal home in Northfield, NJ 🌊

Since it’s a coastal area, we leaned into soft blues, greens, and hints of cyan, layering in subtle coastal elements to keep the space feeling fresh, light, and inviting.

One detail we’ve been loving lately? Adding a small lamp on the kitchen counter. It brings unexpected warmth and instantly makes the space feel more like home instead of just a house.

This project is also a perfect reminder: empty rooms almost always feel smaller. Once we staged these spaces—even with queen beds—you can clearly see there’s still plenty of room to move comfortably.
