After a long career, holding executive positions in travel & hospitality marketing firms, I am thrilled to be part of Vineyard Open House Real Estate located in Vineyard Haven, on Martha’s Vineyard. I have been passionate about real estate since the age of 6 when I started regularly reading the Sunday New York Times Real Estate Section. I cut out listings and ads that included floor plans and kep
t them all in a file, actually an empty candy tin that I carried around with me wherever I went. After getting married, graduating from college and having two daughters, I continued to pursue my passion for real estate. We lived in Westchester County near New York City. I held a real estate license and worked primarily as a real estate investor and serial renovator. Along the way I learned how to spot a diamond in the rough, how to renovate a house for maximum return, and how to market a property using crucial staging techniques even before there was such a word in the industry. As a result, my houses always sold quickly and often generated bidding wars even in weak market conditions. In travel, I have been the Executive Director of the Association of Travel Marketing Executives for the past 20 years. I’ve been responsible for all events, membership, fund raising, conferences, education, publications, marketing, technology and social media for this highly respected professional association. Why am I now selling real estate on Martha’s Vineyard, you ask? Well, I first came to the Vineyard in 1957 as a mother’s helper,. While I was taking care of my charges on Menemsha Beach, two 16-year-old boys started tossing pebbles at me, evidently to get my attention. Apparently this pathetic attempt to meet a girl worked, as I married one of them five years later and we’ve been coming to the Vineyard every year since then. Our two daughters have been summering here from birth and now live here year round. Many of our childhood island friends still live here and many summer friends have moved here year-round. Every day I’m amazed to see so many friends that I have known for over fifty years. It’s a remarkable feeling. Martha’s Vineyard holds a special place in the hearts of the families who vacation here year after year. For many, the idea of owning a summer or year-round home here remains only a dream. But others, like us, gradually realize that it is a realistic and attainable goal. Eight years ago we moved from New York to West Tisbury. Our house is a valuable financial asset – especially because we sometimes choose to rent it to summer vacationers, defraying the costs of ownership. Whether you are a buyer, seller or vacationer I will strive tirelessly to put my real estate acumen and deep knowledge of the Vineyard to work to help you turn your Martha’s Vineyard dream into a marvelous reality. I look forward to meeting you and helping you and your family share the incomparable rewards of Vineyard life. Contact me on my cell at 914 439-2047 via text or call anytime.
