For his eldest daughter, Jameelah, he renovated the basement into a cozy space that includes heated floors and a home theater, investing $40,000. For Hameedah, he built a $60,000 addition with a private entrance and its own garage. "My wife and I are extremely excited and grateful to have our daughters back under the same roof. Lately I’ve found myself gravitating toward pink.

Not the loud, bubblegum pink of my childhood, but soft blushes, dusty roses, rich mauves, and bold fuchsias. And the more I think about it, the more I realize it has nothing to do with the color itself.

Maybe it’s age.
Maybe it’s confidence.
Maybe it’s healing.
Maybe it’s finally realizing that strength and softness were never opposites.

For so many years, we work so hard to prove we’re capable, resilient, and independent that we quietly push away anything that feels “too feminine.” Then one day, you realize you don’t have to choose.

You can be intelligent and soft.
Powerful and graceful.
Disciplined and playful.
Respected and beautifully, unapologetically feminine.

Maybe that’s why pink feels different now.

Not because I’ve changed into someone else…
But because I’ve finally become comfortable being all of who I already am. 💗
