Where were you on 9/11, 25 years ago?

For me, it was 2001. I had only been living in Virginia for about four years, and I was working at the Alltel call center—an old cell phone company some of you may remember.

I remember the announcement. I remember them letting us leave work early. And I remember feeling so anxious. I wasn’t necessarily scared… I just didn’t want to go home. I wanted to be around people. I remember going to the malls, only to find that they had already closed.

So, I went home.

And for months, I literally watched CNN day after day, trying to process what had happened and understand what was happening in our country. I called everyone I knew who was living in New York City at the time, just to make sure they were okay and that their families were safe.

And now, somehow, 25 years have passed. It’s still to believe.

So today, I’m not asking for political opinions or a history lesson. I’m simply asking:
