Mortgage rates are back in the headlines, and I spoke to Alexa Conroy with 25 News KXXV about what that means for Central Texas buyers. 🏡

The question I keep coming back to is simple: Can you comfortably afford the monthly payment?

Being approved for a certain amount doesn’t mean you need to shop at the top of it. Leave yourself a cushion for the costs and surprises that come with owning a home. And if you’ve been waiting to buy, check in with your lender before you start touring—your numbers may have changed.

I’ve always loved the idea of regeneration and adaptive reuse: slowing down, seeing what already exists in a community, and imagining how it can serve people in a new way.

I saw that done beautifully when I worked in design and architecture. Now that I’m in Waco, it feels even more personal. I’m grateful to play a small part in how this city grows while honoring what makes it special.

These are the kinds of thoughtful, sustainable ideas that can carry a community into the future. The Floyd Casey redevelopment and the new Alice Martinez Rodriguez Park show what it can look like to reimagine a familiar place for the people who call it home.

I love our community because it doesn’t exist in just one language. ❤️

Whether I’m speaking on English-language radio or Spanish-language radio, I’m reminded how important it is that we show up in each other’s spaces. Our communities aren’t meant to operate separately. We’re neighbors, friends, families, business owners, leaders and advocates—and Waco is stronger when we actually know one another, support one another and celebrate together.

That matters even more when we’re coming together for a good cause.

I don’t separate my career from my community work. To me, they’re one and the same. Real estate may be what I do professionally, but building relationships, connecting people and helping create a community where more people feel like they belong is a huge part of why I do it.

And this time, we’re coming together for our kids. 🌟
