The Strand Building, located in downtown Wadsworth, was originally built in 1910 for vaudeville shows and then later on for movies. The storefront was originally the refreshment counter prior to food being allowed in the theater. At one time, during the movie intermissions, people would go to the refreshment counter for food. However, after they started allowing people to bring in their own food,
a Western Union office went in where the refreshment stand used to be. Gary Grieve reopened The Strand in 1962 after it had been closed for many years. He did some renovations and finally did away with the storefront. Hobbs Takes a Vacation.” The Strand closed June 14, 1977 when Grieve opened the Great Oaks Cinema. After that, it was used as a dance studio, teen center, church and warehouse. Kevin Sir Louis and Steve Masica purchased the building in March, 1998 and began very extensive renovations. In 2000, the new marquee was installed, lit once again and has become a community focal point for announcing events, news and wishing well to others. In 2001, The Strand won a Rosie award from Wadsworth Chamber of Commerce for “Outstanding Construction, Improvement or Restoration.”
In 2019 Nicole and Bj purchased the building and the lot next door. They converted the prior banquest/event center into Dolce at the Strand an Italian inspired gelato, cocktail and dessert restaurant. The vacant lot was transformed into Dolce's patio with bocce courts and fireputs. There are 10 office spaces as well inside the Srand.
