It’s the First Day of Fall! Did you know Fall is actually one of the best times to plant certain crops that thrive in cooler weather? Here are some tasty (and hardy) options:

🥬 Leafy Greens – Spinach, arugula, and kale love cooler temps and can handle a little frost. Bonus: many will keep producing well into fall, and kale can last into winter with some protection.
🥕 Root Vegetables – Radishes are super fast (ready in 3–4 weeks!), while turnips and beets can give you a nice fall harvest if planted soon.
🌿 Herbs – Cilantro and parsley are perfect cool-weather herbs. Cilantro especially grows better now than in the summer heat.
🧄 Other Staples – Garlic, shallots, and onions planted in late September/October will overwinter and reward you with a flavorful harvest next summer.

Recycling can feel confusing, but knowing the basics makes a big difference! Here are some common items you can put in your recycling bin:

✅ Paper – newspapers, magazines, office paper, and paper bags (clean and free of food).
✅ Plastics – bottles for water, soda, detergent, or shampoo; milk jugs; and clear plastic tubs like yogurt or butter containers (always check local guidelines).
✅ Cardboard – cereal boxes, shoe boxes, and shipping boxes (free of packing tape).
✅ Glass – jars and bottles of all colors, from salsa to jam to sparkling water (clean and free of food).
✅ Metals – aluminum cans, tin/steel food cans, and even clean foil or foil pans.
✅ Other Household Items – some beverage cartons and empty, non-hazardous aerosol cans (like whipped cream).

Every recycled item adds up to less waste in landfills and more resources reused. 🌍
