It’s time to stay calm and prepare.
Now is the time to come together and do this the right way.
Here’s what we know:
There is strong model agreement and continued consistency. The NWS is fully on board, and everything continues to point toward a storm. I’m confident something happens.
If this materializes, it could be a once-in-a-decade (or even two) event.
The biggest question remains snow totals. The latest EURO model shifts the system farther north and strengthens it, increasing the potential for higher-end totals in some areas. That is not a done deal and will change again, but 8–12 inches remains firmly on the table.
Now let’s talk about smart, reasonable preparation:
1️⃣ Spread out shopping 🛒
Take four pieces of paper and label them Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Pick one at random—that’s your shopping day unless it’s truly not possible.
If you live paycheck to paycheck, go Friday.
2️⃣ Buy only what you need 💵
Plan for 3–5 extra days of essentials. No hoarding—let’s keep shelves stocked for everyone.
3️⃣ Basic power readiness 🔌
Charge phones and battery packs, top off gas tanks, and know where your flashlights are. Nothing extreme.
4️⃣ Medications 💊
Make sure prescriptions and daily essentials are refilled ahead of time.
5️⃣ Pets 🐶
Have a little extra food and supplies on hand for your pets.
6️⃣ Snow & ice basics ❄️
Shovels, ice melt, and a plan to clear walkways once the storm ends.
7️⃣ Travel expectations ✈️
If this verifies, travel may be difficult or not advised during the storm. Plan to stay put if possible.
We normally wait until the 3-day range to encourage preparations like this, but given the potential severity, it’s important to spread them out.
➡️ Storm impacts are currently looking most likely on Sunday.
