Time changes an old building.

Love transforms her.

When I first met Sharlee and Donnie, I was beautiful beneath the dust, but tired. My brick had weathered more than a century of seasons. My entrance had lost its invitation. I had stories to tell, but very few people were listening.

Then they looked past what I was... and saw what I could become.

They didn't try to make me something new. They simply helped me become myself again.

Today my doors welcome travelers. My lights glow each evening. My windows are filled with life. And once again, I stand proudly on Main Street, ready to create memories for generations yet to come.

Thank you to everyone who has encouraged this journey, offered a kind word, lent a hand, or simply stopped to admire the transformation.

After 123 years, I think I'm just getting started.

There are days that remind an old house why she has stood for more than a century.

The 4th of July was one of those days.

For my very first appearance in Wallowa's Independence Day Parade, I was surrounded by quite a crew—seven grandchildren, six children, one Grandma the Great, and Sharleé and Donnie—all of whom poured their time, creativity, and laughter into bringing my float to life. Together, they earned me 2nd Place in the Kids Category, and I couldn't have been more proud.

After the parade, I welcomed the community inside for an open house. Nearly 500 visitors wandered through my library, dining room, grand staircase, theater, and other shared spaces. My private bedrooms and bathrooms remained tucked away, leaving a few surprises for those who return as overnight guests.

To everyone who waved from the parade route, stopped by to visit, shared your stories, or simply came to see what has become of this grand old building—thank you. After more than 120 years, it was a joy to be filled with so much life again.

My next chapter has begun, and I hope many of you will become part of it. And a heartfelt thank you to Mr. Roger Averbeck for these amazing photos!

Allow me to introduce myself.

I am The Grand Lady, a 1903 landmark nestled in the heart of Wallowa, Oregon, where the mountains stand tall, the pace slows down, and wonder still has room to roam.

Inside my walls, you will find over 3,800 square feet of historic charm, hidden surprises, and carefully crafted spaces designed for gathering, celebrating, and creating memories.

I comfortably sleep up to 16 guests and offer:

• Four themed king bedrooms
• Four beautifully appointed bathrooms
• A steampunk submarine bunkie that sleeps 8 adventurous souls
• Secret doors and hidden passages
• A fully stocked kitchen ready for feasts both grand and small
• Large dining spaces where stories can be shared long into the evening
• The Fourth Wall Speakeasy, complete with games and surprises
• A 75-inch television with surround sound
• Countless curiosities waiting to be discovered

Some of my residents are easier to spot than others. A monkey may be watching from an unexpected perch. An octopus may be guarding a treasure. A unicorn may be hiding where only the observant will find her.

After all, curiosity is always rewarded here.

I am not merely a place to stay.

I am a place to explore.

Last night, something happened that I have been waiting a very long time for.

I welcomed my very first guests.

For 123 years, I have watched people come and go. I have worn many faces and served many purposes. But this chapter is different. This chapter was written with the hope that laughter would fill my rooms again, stories would be shared around my tables, and travelers would find a little wonder within my walls.

And now it has happened.

My lights were on. My beds were occupied. My halls carried footsteps once more.

After all the planning, restoring, dreaming, building, and waiting, I am finally doing what I was brought back to do.

Thank you to everyone who believed in me long before my doors were ready to open.

My first guests have arrived, and my next chapter has officially begun.

For years, I stood quietly on Main Street, holding my stories close.

Today, I have an update.

I am 98% complete.

My walls have found their colors. My rooms have found their names. My secrets are nearly ready to be discovered. Every lamp, every door, every detail has been chosen with care to bring me back to life.

There is still a little work to do, but after 123 years, a few more days feels like the blink of an eye.

Soon, I will open my doors and welcome guests to wander, wonder, and make memories of their own within my walls.

For 123 years, I watched travelers arrive in Wallowa.

Merchants. Ranchers. Dreamers. Performers.

I gave them a place to gather, celebrate, and tell stories.

Now, at last, I have a story of my own to tell.

Tucked behind my walls, this room was designed for those who feel most at home chasing horizons. Rich textures, hidden details, and a touch of adventure create a space where every stay feels like the beginning of a great journey.

I won't show you everything just yet. A few secrets are meant to be discovered in person.

But today, I'm opening the door just enough to offer a glimpse.
