The appraisal came in low. Now everybody's panicking....

The honest answer is that it's not automatic that the deal falls apart. It depends on what both sides are willing to do next.

The seller can lower the price.
The buyer can make up the difference in cash.
Both sides can meet somewhere in the middle.

Or the deal can end.

None of those outcomes are decided by the appraisal itself.

They're decided by the conversation that happens after.

That conversation is almost always worth having before anyone walks away.
