We turned our backyard shed (ADU) into a mid-term rental, and it’s been one of the smartest decisions we’ve made financially.
Mid-term rentals are having a moment, and for good reason. Why we ❤️ MTRs:
➡️ 30+ day minimum stays = less turnover, less hassle
➡️ No year long lease to lock you & tenants in
➡️ Little to no regulation (unlike STRs)
➡️ More income than a long-term lease without the turnover of an STR
➡️ Perform best in suburban markets = perfect for a backyard ADU
Our tenant has everything they need without ever stepping foot in our home. Their own private entrance to the backyard, a private deck and sitting area, and a fully equipped space that’s cozy and feels like a home.
Building an ADU is faster, more inexpensive, and far less disruptive than expanding your primary home. Why live through a renovation, months of permitting, and skyrocketing hidden costs when you can build smarter and faster for a fraction of the price?
