The Contra Costa real estate market continues to be a strong seller's market. Prices increased 9% on average (year over year) but the number of sales were down by 7% (surely because of a lack of inventory.

Here is a great article about the near future prospects for the California real estate market. While it says that the economy looks good, unemployment is the lowest in 40 years, consumer confidence is the highest in 18 years, the biggest challenge is the lack of homes for sale. It also predicts that interest rates will continue to increase making it a good idea for buyers not to wait too long to act.
