Today we celebrated with the Royse City Tri-County Chamber of Commerce as we officially opened our doors in Royse City, Texas. Thank you to the Chamber, local business leaders, and everyone who joined us to tour the model and meet the team.

With 25+ years in homebuilding and real estate, Jarod has led at nearly every level of the business. He spent the last decade at PulteGroup, most recently as President of its Mid-Atlantic operations. He has also served as COO and CFO of Stanley Martin Homes, with earlier experience at Lennar, NVR, Freddie Mac and Deloitte.

Great things are already happening at GROWTH, and Jarod's experience will help us make them even better, bringing well-built homes to more families who are ready to own. He's a perfect fit for our team and our future.

This Labor Day, GROWTH Homes Managing Director Ed Gorman shared something with the team that we thought was worth sharing a little more broadly.

"As I think about Labor Day this year, I think about American history in the latter half of the 19th century and the forces that were in play for workers seeking better lives for themselves and their families.

Remarkably, they organized themselves into potent economic forces. Craft and industrial guilds willing to stand up against well-armed employer militias because they believed their collective well-being was worth fighting for.

We think of that period as some grainy black-and-white footage that disappears into the haze of our fractured attention spans. But many of your forebears were on one side or the other of that tension. This weekend, take a moment to think about the people whose shoulders you're standing on.

Labor Day became a federal holiday in 1894 under Grover Cleveland, largely as a political gesture toward labor activism that had otherwise been suppressed during his term. There was even debate within the labor movement about whether to recognize it at all.

Today, Labor Day is more a signal of the end of summer than a celebration of the working class whose sacrifices built the American middle class. But the things we take for granted aren't appreciated until they're lost.

Our past matters. Let's not lose it."

The words "starter home" and "a million dollars" should never belong in the same sentence. But according to a recent Zillow report, they now do in 242 US cities, a number that has nearly tripled since 2020.

There's one thing behind almost all of it: we haven't built enough homes. Where new construction kept up with demand, prices held steadier. Where building stalled, that first home slipped further out of reach.

That's the whole reason we do this work. More homes, priced for real buyers, in the places where people want to stay. We're growing into new markets to keep that promise where it's needed most.

Happy 4th of July, and happy 250th birthday, America! Two hundred and fifty years in, homeownership is still one of the most powerful tools a family has for stability and opportunity, and that feels worth celebrating today.

This piece walks through how we got here, from the 30-year mortgage to the Fair Housing Act to the protections that keep families secure in their homes now. It's a good reminder of why we do what we do. From all of us at GROWTH Homes, have a safe and happy Independence Day.

The American experiment has proven, among other things, that ownership creates opportunity.
