🟠 It goes without saying, my involvement with SMYAL is a reason to celebrate pride all year long. I look back at the annual brunches where I had the opportunity to discuss the importance of lifting the voices of LGBTQ+ youth in our community.

📣 As the Buyer’s Representative for a new construction home that went under contract in Anacostia last month, I thought it would be fun to do a profile on this historic DC neighborhood. 🏙️🏘️❤️

Did you know?

✅ Anacostia is one of DC’s oldest neighborhoods

✅ One of its most famous attractions is Cedar Hill, the home of Frederick Douglass

✅ The Anacostia Historic District, features around 500 buildings

✅ It boasts unique two-story cottages, Italianate-style architecture and Queen Anne-style homes

✅ The Fredrick Douglass Bridge connects the Anacostia Neighborhood to Southwest DC

✅ Anacostia is home to the Big Chair, a 19-and-a-half-foot tall sculpture. 🪑The chair was built in 1959 by Virginia-based furniture maker Bassett Furniture as a clever way to bring customers to their family showroom which was located on the grounds where the chair is currently placed.
