A daughter's exact words "I'm not putting my mom into assisted living." Her mom didn't want to give up her independence. Her daughter didn't want her living in a big house alone. So we designed a way for both to be true.

A single-level addition with its own private entrance so Mom comes and goes on her own terms. A discreet interior doorway connects to the main house, but only when she chooses to use it. The ensuite bathroom is fully ADA-compliant — heated mirror, curbless shower, soft lighting throughout — designed first as a beautiful room, so accessibility never reads as clinical. Her mom chose all of the finishes (paint color, tile and more).

This isn't a one-off. It's one of the things we specialize in: helping DC-area families design for aging parents before the emergency forces the decision.
