DC HPAP
The Home Purchase Assistance Program (HPAP) gives up to $84,000 in down payment and closing assistance to eligible first-time homebuyers.
As of 2019, eligible applicants can receive a maximum of $80,000 in gap financing assistance and an additional $4,000 in closing cost assistance.

DC Open Doors makes homeownership in Washington, D.C. affordable by offering qualified buyers home purchase loans, down payment and closing cost assistance.

The program offers deferred repayable loans for a homebuyer’s minimum down payment requirement in addition to below-market interest rates for first trust mortgages for the purchase of a home in the District of Columbia.

Qualified first-time and repeat homebuyers are eligible for the program.

SHOPPERS grocery to close 2 DC-area stores and sell 9 other locations -
United Natural Foods Inc. is the parent company of Shoppers Food. They will be closing or selling nearly a dozen Shoppers grocery stores in the D.C. area.

The changes are set to occur by February. The company said in a statement that it is looking to focus on its wholesale food distribution business.

Here's a list of the affected stores in our area:

Lidl, a German discount grocery chain, headquartered in Crystal City, VA plans to acquire 6 of the stores.
