Happy Memorial Day!!

So Nancy has a new listing (I love Nancy, she is like a sister). It is a big, beautiful Federal right in the heart of the action, but still as quiet and private as you would want — not to mention the light, space, and all that good stuff, AND it has a lot of fun history, so I had to do a reel on it.

This reel is a bit of a bait and switch… or maybe even better, bait and surprise.

People love to talk about Georgetown “spite houses,” and yes, spite houses absolutely existed — just probably not here, because Georgetown has never struck me as a particularly spiteful crowd. For that, you may need to head to Charleston. 😉

But the real surprise is this wonderful new listing of mine: a house filled with genuinely fun history, original character, and that’s very easy to live in.

So excited to share my friend Kenneth Peters’s new book all about Georgetown’s retail history and the stories behind the neighborhood we know today. If you love these Georgetown deep dives, you’ll definitely want to check this one out.

And some exciting news — we’ll be at the Georgetown Library on May 16 at 2PM talking all things Georgetown history and retail. Hope to see you there!

Like the House Tour the Georgetown Garden Tour is a Rite of Spring in this neighborhood. Lucky for us, it is run by Georgetown Garden Club, and anyone who has witnessed a true garden clubber knows how hard they work and how truly devoted they are. In this reel I did not go to every house on the tour, why? Because some of these gardens are so secret that you have to buy a ticket to even know where they are!! Exciting !!

So Save the date for the 96th Annual Georgetown Garden Tour on Saturday, May 9th from 10am–5pm—a beautiful day not to be missed. Wander through some of Georgetown’s most stunning private gardens and soak in the season at its best.

Join us for the 2026 Georgetown Garden Tour. Tickets are available at the link in our bio or can be purchased day-of at Christ Church.

Violet and I have been doing these reels for two years. Why did it take so long to get Georgetown’s most famous restaurant? Well, I thought it was an obvious one—something everyone already knew: that John F. Kennedy proposed to Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis in the booth by the window. But that’s the thing… there is so much going on in this neighborhood, so much history. I guess we’ll be at it for a while 😊

A big thank you to , Billy, and the staff!

What could be more exciting than discovering a genuine Georgetown artifact? A few months ago, I received this bottle at Carol Joynt’s Q & A Cafe. It was a memorable day, and I couldn’t recall who had given it to me. I’ve been asking around, but unfortunately, I haven’t found anyone who knows. Not only is it the coolest thing, this bottle instigated a very neat story.

I love both Saint John’s AND . Fern was baptized at the first, and well, the other is obvious. Rather than go on about how many times I sold this or that, we will save the space for the stuff you really need to know below….and watch the reel! 🙂

From time to time, a listing comes along that’s simply… special.
It transcends the usual metrics—square footage, location, parking, level of finish.

1554 34th Street has all of that.
But it also has that rare je ne sais quoi—the quality you feel more than you can describe.
(Although, I guess I can describe a large sun-filled drawing room with nearly 11’ ceilings and French doors to a large garden, but you get my point 🙂)

And then there’s this: it has remained in the same family since it was essentially built.
I’ve seen that a couple of times—but not in years, and never quite like this.
Not 50 or 60 years… but nearly 90.

It’s a stunner—but true: Walter Reed lived in Georgetown, on Cooke’s Row.

Last month, Carol Joynt handed me one of the great small treasures of Georgetown history—A Portrait of Old Georgetown by Grace Dunlop Ecker. Tucked inside is a wonderful memory of a Valentine’s Day party in 1899 at the Reed house. You can almost see it.

Unrelated, but important: at the same event, someone gave me a beautiful old bottle inscribed “Georgetown.” I was distracted and failed to note who—an oversight I’d very much like to correct. I’ve since done the research and would love to give proper credit.

If it was you, please DM me.

Everyone else—take a look at this reel.
