If you’ve been trying to get into McLean before the 2026-2027 school year, this deserves a look.

At the time of posting, this is the lowest-priced detached home currently on the market within about a half mile and offers 5 bedrooms, 4 full bathrooms, and an 11,400+ sq. ft. corner lot. Opportunities like this don’t come along often.

I am convinced that a shocking percentage of homes suffer from what I call interrogation lighting. You know the feeling: you walk into a living room and it’s too bright😑

The culprit is often color temperature. If your bulbs or recessed lights say 2700K, 3000K, 4000K, or 5000K, that “K” stands for Kelvin, which measures the color of the light rather than the brightness. The weird part is that the lower the number, the warmer the light, while the higher the number, the cooler and bluer it becomes.

Over the last few months I finally switched most of our main living spaces over to 2700K lighting and immediately noticed a difference. The house feels warmer, calmer, and more comfortable to spend time in, especially in the evening when everyone is winding down.

The cheat code, though, is pairing warm LEDs with dimmers. If you watch TV, listen to music, entertain friends, or simply want your house to feel more relaxing at the end of the day, adding dimmers is one of the cheapest upgrades you can make that has an outsized impact on how your home feels.

Warm lights, cool vibes. Are you Team 2700K, Team 3000K, or are you out here running a full-time interrogation room with 5000K bulbs?

It feels like patriotism has been taken away from a lot of people.

Over the last several years, the American flag, the Fourth of July, and even saying you’re proud to be an American have become so closely associated with the 47th president and his accompanying red hat movement that a lot of non- white males, especially Black Americans, have felt like those symbols no longer belong to us. I don’t accept that.

I don’t have an orange tree in my backyard like Vic Mensa . But he inspired this.

I’ve been thinking a lot over the last few days. Today is Sunday July 5th and we are cleaning up after our annual Fourth of July party, pulling cilantro leaves one by one, and realizing America has always held contradictions. This country has done some deeply painful things. Slavery, segregation, redlining, discrimination, and injustice aren’t footnotes. They’re woven into our history, and they’re still shaping the present.

Black American culture was also born here. My family was built here. Our music, our food, our language, our faith, our businesses, our activism, and our resilience are part of the American story. My ancestors helped build this country, often without recognition, and every generation since has pushed it closer to the ideals it promised on paper.

I’m proud to be an African American. I’m also proud that my family’s story is part of America’s story. Those ideas strengthen each other because our fingerprints are on this country just as much as anyone else’s.

That’s the America I want my kids to inherit. One where every person gets to claim this country, celebrate it, improve it, hold it accountable when it falls short, and believe they belong here too.

The hottest misconception during this heat wave is thinking your AC is broken because it won’t hit 72°

This heat wave has a lot of people wondering if their AC is failing, when in many cases it’s doing exactly what it was designed to do. During extreme temperatures, your system is fighting the sun, your roof, your attic, your windows, humidity, and every bit of heat generated inside your home.

A few simple adjustments can make a bigger difference than dropping the thermostat another five degrees:
☀️ Close the blinds on sunny windows.
🌀 Keep ceiling fans running.
🌬️ If your vents are in the floor, use a strong floor fan to help move cool air farther into the room.
🔥 Avoid using the oven and dryer during the hottest part of the day.

Huge thank you to all of the HVAC professionals working overtime this week. This kind of weather keeps you incredibly busy, and we appreciate what you do.

If this helped you understand how your system works, save it for the next heat wave and share it with someone who’s convinced their AC is broken.

A little imagination can unlock a lot of value.

This conceptual rendering was inspired by our listing at 2911 Weisman Road in Silver Spring, is a, 2-bedroom, 1-bath detached home on a rare .15-acre corner lot between Wheaton and Glenmont Metros

One of the things I love about technology is its ability to help people see possibility. A rough idea becomes a visual. A visual becomes a plan. A plan becomes action.

Real estate has always rewarded vision. The people who create the most value are often the people who can see the future before everyone else sees it.

As buyers toured this home, they saw opportunities to expand, renovate, modernize, and create something uniquely their own. We leaned into that story, highlighted the possibilities, and invited people to imagine what could be built over time with investment, patience, and creativity.

The response was incredible. 40 + showings and tours , Eleven offers In 6 days on market and our seller expected to be under contract within the next 24 hours.

For sellers, this is a reminder that potential has value. For buyers, it’s a reminder that equity is often created through vision long before it’s created through construction.

The tools are getting smarter. The opportunities are getting easier to visualize. The magic still comes from people who can imagine what is possible and then go build it.

what do you think of this rendering?
What would you change?
What would you keep?
What opportunities do you see?

if you own a property that needs a little vision, a little strategy, or a little help telling its story, hit the link in bio and schedule a conversation . We’d love to help you explore what’s possible and bring that potential to life.
