Karen Szala, Realtor Washington, DC

Karen Szala, Realtor Washington, DC Karen has called Washington, DC home for over a decade.

When Karen first arrived in the area, she quickly realized the challenges of home hunting in the District. After a successful career in fundraising and event management, Karen turned her focus towards helping people manage one of life's biggest events - buying a home. Understanding that not every client has a 9 to 5 job, Karen is skilled in working with busy professionals, especially first timer h

ome buyers and those new to the area. Specializing in up-and-coming neighborhoods, such as the revitalized SW Waterfront and the trendy and vibrant H Street Corridor, Karen lives with her husband and pug in the hip Navy Yard area of SE. In addition to helping clients find their new home, Karen is a community block leader and loves checking out the booming food truck and nightlife scene in DC's emerging neighborhoods. Karen looks forward to helping her buyers identify the neighborhood that suites their needs for their life today, and the life they dream of in the years to come.

Society gossip has reached Washington… and the addresses are excellent.

If the Bridgertons crossed the Atlantic, they’d scatter across DC in a flurry of townhouses, rooftops, and scandalously good views. From Georgetown prestige to Capitol Hill charm and Wharf-side drama, each sibling has claimed a neighborhood worthy of their social season.

One question remains, dear reader:
Where would you reside in the world of Bridgerton? ✨🏛️

When a listing attracts multiple offers, sellers gain negotiating power. Competing buyers may raise their price, waive contingencies, or offer flexible closing terms. Agents can leverage this scenario to secure the best combination of price and terms for their clients. Your agent can prepare you for this possibility and guide you through comparing offers to help you choose wisely beyond just the highest dollar amount.

MLS descriptions can feel like a different language! Understanding the terminology helps buyers make sense of a home’s status. The clearer you are on the terminology, the faster you can act when the right property appears. “Active” means the home is currently for sale and accepting offers. “Contingent” means the seller has accepted an offer, but certain conditions, like financing or inspections, must be met before it closes. “Pending” means all contingencies have been satisfied and the sale is moving toward closing. Need clarification on any other terms? Let us know in the comments!
