Something sweet is brewing at The Brooks.

Friendship Place is collecting Halloween candy to help make the season a little more festive for children and families staying at The Brooks transitional housing facility in Washington, DC.

A few rules from the Halloween spirits: store-bought candy only, please. All candy must be new, unopened, and still in its original packaging. And while we love a good treat, baked goods of any kind must remain in the crypt.

We're proud to honor Carole Evans this year at Friendship Place's 35th Anniversary Gala & Awards!

Carole has been a professional orchestral violinist has been a member of the National Symphony Orchestra since 2001. Carole first became aware of the work of Friendship Place after attending an annual Breakfast in 2008. Collaborating with Friendship Place board member Barbara Franklin, Friendship Place's Music of Friends benefit concerts began in the living rooms of board members in 2009 and have enjoyed the hospitality of the French Embassy since 2014. She has continued her commitment to raising awareness of Friendship Place’s mission by donating 3% of her commission earnings.

Make a meal. Make a difference. What if one afternoon with your coworkers, congregation, school, or friends could help 40 people feel cared for?

At La Casa, Friendship Place provides permanent supportive housing for 40 residents in Washington, DC. La Casa is not a shelter—it is home. Each resident has a private apartment and access to supportive services designed to help build lasting stability.

And there is a simple way your group can become part of that community: provide lunch.

We need 40 ready-to-eat bagged lunches—one for every La Casa resident. Gather your people, assemble the meals together, and turn something as ordinary as making lunch into a meaningful act of community and care.

Each lunch should include a sandwich or entrée, fruit or a snack, a drink, and individually packaged items.

This service project is perfect for an office team, congregation, school community, neighborhood group, or circle of friends.

40 residents. 40 lunches. One group can make it happen.

Friendship Place’s AimHire employment program in Washington, DC is seeking $20 DC Metro cards and grocery gift cards to help people experiencing or at risk of homelessness overcome everyday barriers to employment.

Reliable transportation helps AimHire participants get to job interviews, travel to work, attend appointments, and access essential services throughout the Washington, DC area. Grocery gift cards help participants meet basic food needs while they focus on employment, housing stability, and rebuilding their lives.

A $20 Metro card gives AimHire participants meaningful transportation support for job interviews, work, appointments, and other essential trips.
