A little escape from Washington to the Virginia countryside.

We were in Middleburg for a real estate team gathering and ended the day with dinner at Goodstone Inn. As someone who loves a good garden, I could have happily wandered around here for another hour.

Flowers spilling out of the beds, old trees, clipped hedges, fountains, stone walls and the pool tucked into the landscape — there was something beautiful around every corner.

Gardens have a way of making you slow down, look a little closer and appreciate where you are.

Sometimes you don’t have to go very far from Washington to feel a world away.

You might be surprised by how much space $499,900 can get you in DC.

Just listed at 3726 Burnham Place NE in Mayfair — a light-filled, three-level townhome-style condo with four bedrooms, a refreshed kitchen, renovated primary bath, and plenty of room to spread out.

One of my favorite features is the backyard: a large, fully fenced outdoor space with a brick patio and grassy lawn — perfect for entertaining, gardening, kids, or the dog. And yes, it comes with assigned off-street parking.

Even better, the Minnesota Avenue Metro is just 0.3 miles away.

Some homes just feel like they’re meant to be.

Congratulations to Marnel and her family on their beautiful new home in 16th Street Heights/Brightwood! Built in 1927, it’s full of the timeless character and craftsmanship that make Washington’s historic homes so special.

The neighborhoods bordering Rock Creek Park have always been some of my favorite places in the city. They offer this rare balance of mature trees, peaceful streets, and beautiful architecture, while still being just minutes from downtown, Chevy Chase, and everything happening around Walter Reed. They feel like a quiet retreat without ever feeling far away.

I’m so grateful Marnel trusted me to help her family find the home they love. And the beautiful flowers waiting for me at settlement were such an unexpected and thoughtful surprise.

Congratulations again, Marnel! Here’s to many happy years and wonderful memories in your new home.
