PSA...please be careful responding to FB Marketplace- especially if it looks to be a super deal.
Recently we have had several prospective tenants tell us that they saw our homes on marketplace renting for $1200/mo - this individual asks for $70 app fee and wants a full or partial deposit before telling them if approved or looking at a lease. I don't know how many people this individual has scammed or how much money he/she has gotten, but I do know...
-We promote on FB but do not conduct business here
-We do not collect for application fee- that is done thru a specific rental platform (and is NOT $70) and is paid thru them
-The application is sent and processed thru rental platform
-We will ALWAYS talk to the prospective renter, either in person or on the phone/ FaceTime (and communicate via phone or email) before we begin writing a lease.
-We do not ask for money/deposit UNTIL the renter has been approved with a pending lease AND verbal communication.
-We do not have any access to your personal or financial info, nor do we ask for it.
Our rental home has been seen on FB marketplace on page of
Ryan Jason Howell- then you are directed to another individual.
We think Ryan's FB might have been hacked- the content is totally inappropriate and does not seem legit.
Law enforcement said this is probably initiated from out of the country and it is close to impossible to find the source- and they will use apps for false phone # and contact info.
