This week on RAGBRAI met the guy that wrote the book " What's eating Gilbert Grape" He wrote the fiction book referring to his time spent in Hedrick Iowa in the summers visiting family. He was so thrilled to meet someone that grew up there. He was great and I really enjoyed talking to him. He also was the director in the movie that was made from the book.

"What's Eating Gilbert Grape is a 1991 novel and 1993 movie written by Peter Hedges, who grew up in West Des Moines, Iowa. While Hedrick, Iowa is not the setting or focus of the story, Hedges set the tale in the fictional Iowa town of Endora"
