My last ski holiday with Francesco in Zermatt-skiing below the beautiful Matterhorn. We had the best time together apart from Francesco begging me to ski faster even though I had to keep on reminding him I had a hip replacement and was not allowed to fall! I shall always cherish every moment with my precious son-he was the sweetest, kindest boy any mother could ever ask for. Please remember all those families this Christmas who have lost a child and are no longer able to enjoy their Christmas, especially those who have lost a loved one through gun violence. Approximately 45,000 Americans lose their lives every year because of guns-4.6 M minors live in households with unsecured guns and guns are the leading cause of death for children in the US. Don’t wait until this terrible tragedy arrives on your doorstep-please next year endorse candidates that support common sense gun laws to protect children. It could be your child, your friend, your grandchild and suddenly your life is changed forever. Christmas will never be the same and will never be a source of joy again. It is a year today since Francesco’s memorial service. Today I would like to try to focus on the gift of a child I was given for 17 years-I can honestly say that every moment was a joy with him and that was confirmed by all the love and sadness that family and friends came to show on that day. The church in Bridgehampton was overflowing out into the streets with all the people whose lives Francesco touched. I hope that some good can come from his needless death and he will be remembered by all as a happy, gifted, funny, curious, kind and unique child with a beautiful heart and soul-one that I feel around me every day, caring for me and counseling me as the old soul that he was through our life together. RIP my beautiful son.

My beautiful 17 year old son Francesco lost his life on October 21st 2021 following a series of
uncharacteristic behaviour which ended at Little Plains Beach in Southampton. Today would have
been his 18th birthday. Today would have been the day he said he wished to change his name by
deed pole, by adding ‘Cochran’ to his name.
He was a brilliant student, well-loved, happy, curious and had everything to look forward to in life.
The week Francesco died he had been very excited about an interview at Amherst College.
Everything was going his way and I don’t believe, even in my wildest thoughts, that he was ever
considering, let alone planning, the tragic consequence of that moonlit night.
He was not staying with me that night and I am still trying to piece together what actually
happened and why. There were no warning signs: no history of drugs or alcohol problems, nor
depression - he never put a foot out of place at school. He had, however, been at the receiving
end of inappropriate gossip, maliciously peddled by narrow-minded contemporaries at his school
in the US.
Once I do find out more about what really happened, I hope to find a way of honouring his life and
making sense of the way he departed from it: to achieve some positive outcome from this tragedy
by helping other children who are discriminated against to remain safe.
Until then I will remain in mourning with eternal love and in awe of all the achievements he
acquired in such a short life. He played the violin at Carnegie Hall and the Lincoln Center, he was
a straight A student and got into Wi******er College in England in the 6th Form with a 1 1/2%
admission rate. He loved sailing, cooking, skiing, animals, the outdoor life, clay pigeon shooting,
video gaming and traveling. But above all he had the kindest, forgiving and tenderest of hearts.
For over 17 years I had the best son anyone could ever wish for. A true gift from heaven and one
that I will cherish all my life, despite the unbearable pain his passing has caused.
May he rest in peace and be around me and those he loved, always. Always & forever your Mummy. ❤❤❤❤

Congratulations to Emma Raducanu! What a brilliant win at the US tennis Open, especially as she just took her A levels and got an A⭐️in Maths and an A in Economics-not an easy feat! She also speaks fluent mandarin and is a marketers dream and of course she is BRITISH! 🎊🎈🥂🇬🇧⭐️🎉
