Flash forward to January, 2022. You are the Executive Assistant at Shift Real Estate, a team of Realtors that believes that everyone deserves a home. As Executive Assistant, you are the right hand and left brain to the CEO. You listen, plan, and implement. Your job is to keep an eye on all aspects of the business and make sure that projects are managed, agents and staff are happy, and the business is succeeding and making an impact. You can take a bunch of crazy ideas and figure out how to make them work. You are also essentially doing or delegating much of the behind the scenes work to put the CEO and the company on a pedestal. Your method and mission: Support the CEO by keeping things running smoothly so that the CEO can spend as much time as possible on leadership; visioning, coaching, and recruiting. You are enthusiastic about being an assistant, can work mostly independently, have the desire to grow into leadership, and have the capacity to understand and monitor both the big picture and all the pieces that fit into it.
Your CEO is a visionary with ADHD who will be constantly throwing ideas at you and threatening to change directions and you relish the opportunity to dream big, yet you stay grounded and get things back to the current plan before moving too far ahead. When the CEO says “squirrel!” you say “cool, it isn’t going anywhere can we get back to the task at hand and get to that in a bit?” The CEO may often forget to do little things and might not have a solid understanding of what you’re actually working on day-to-day and they will rely on you for a reality check sometimes. You are accommodating but not a pushover and can thrive in a role bringing stability and structure to a constantly evolving environment. You have a good understanding of how the CEO’s mind works and are able to predict their next moves and comprehend their vision with new ideas, and you think of it as a game as you are working on getting better and better at.
You love providing meeting agendas, creating easy to use yet effective project and task management systems, and you see projects you start all the way through the finish line. Making things more efficient without losing effectiveness is fun for you. You are committed to personal and professional growth and you aren’t afraid to be pushed and challenged. You aren’t embarrassed by what you don’t know and you know how or who to find answers. You don’t mind getting your hands dirty sometimes, either.
We don’t live in a perfect world, so you don’t have to have it all, yet hopefully you also: are emotionally literate and aren’t afraid to talk about your feelings; want to attend trainings on trauma awareness, nonviolent communication, and diversity/equity/inclusion; care about making the world a better place and want your work to be tied to that; and you have experience in or adjacent to the real estate industry.
If this sounds like you, please get in touch. Send your resume and cover letter to [Email hidden]. Put “Goose” in the subject line. Feel free to get creative. Your cover letter should include an answer to the following (dig deep! We like authenticity): Do you believe that housing is a human right that everyone is entitled to? Why or why not.
We would like to fill this position locally, but you can work from home sometimes and we would consider a remote hire for the perfect fit.
Shift Real Estate is an equal opportunity employer and folks who belong to marginalized groups are especially encouraged to apply. We do not have an HR department. If you find issue with anything in this job ad, please reach out to us about it!
