💜 We walked, we showed out, and we shattered our goal! 💜

On Sunday, September 27th, our Lockwood of Waterford team proudly joined our Home Base leadership crew at the Detroit Zoo for the 2026 Metro Detroit Walk to End Alzheimer’s. Decked out head-to-toe in purple, our community showed up in full force to honor loved ones, support families, and fight the fade!

When we kicked off our 8-week fundraising journey, we set an initial target of $500. Thanks to the extraordinary generosity of our residents, families, team members, and community supporters—from t-shirt orders and flower wall dedications to funnel cake sales—we didn’t just reach our goal:

✨ We raised an incredible $2,532.22! ✨

Over five times our original goal in just eight short weeks!

Words cannot express how grateful we are for every single donation, cheer, and step taken along the way. Every dollar fuels vital research, care, and support for those impacted by Alzheimer's and other dementias.

Thank you to everyone who made this possible—we are already counting down the days and can't wait to do it all over again next year! 💜👟🦁

A huge, heartfelt THANK YOU to Williams Lake Church and the wonderful You Are Loved movement for bringing such an incredible afternoon of music and joy to Lockwood of Waterford!

Our residents had an absolute blast singing along, tapping their toes, and reliving the classics with "The King" himself. Elvis truly brought the house down, and the smiles across the room said it all.

Step right up! 🎪✨

Today’s Alzheimer’s fundraiser at Lockwood of Waterford was an absolute blast, filled with sweet treats, big smiles, and incredible community spirit! 💜

We fired up the fryer for fresh, made-to-order funnel cakes, and our apple-themed toppings bar was the star of the show! 🍏🎡 Everyone started with classic powdered sugar, then went wild piling on:

🍎 Warm, spiced apple pie filling
✨ House-blended Apple Pie Spiced Sugar
🥜 Crunchy chopped pecans & crushed graham crackers
🍯 Decadent drizzles of caramel, rich chocolate, and sweet butterscotch
☁️ Towering dollops of whipped cream

Between bites, our residents took on the midway with classic carnival games - and true to fair tradition, everybody walked away a winner! 🎯🎈🏆

Best of all, thanks to our amazing community, we raised $110 to support the Alzheimer’s Association and the fight to end Alzheimer’s! 💜

Thank you to all our wonderful residents, family, and team members who joined in the fun, played games, and satisfied their sweet tooth for such a meaningful cause! 🌟🎠
