Camp KOHOE was founded in Dec of 1999 in Benton Harbor MI. It came about from an inspiration received from God two years earlier in CP in Korea. After much prayer and longtime searching (2 years and over 50 properties visited) we were guided to our present place. Moving our family wasn't easy especially since we loved our home. It was a great sacrifice for our children and at times I was wondering if I had truly heard God's voice and made the right decision. But many years and countless workshops and camps later we know it was the best decision we've ever made. We have hosted CARP, STF, GPA, young adult and older adult retreats and many summer and winter camps for the children of our communities in Illinois, Michigan, Indiana, Ohio and Wisconsin. Our facilities are simple but what we lack we make up with heart and love. Camp KOHOE has grown over the years and we will keep on growing for you.

Summer hides a lot out here. Full leaves, tall grass, green in every direction. Fall takes that away, and you can suddenly see the shape of the land itself: the old fence line, the bend in the river you walked past all summer without noticing. Same 150 acres the whole time. This time of year just makes it easier to actually see.

The people who keep this place running live minutes away, raise their families here, and would be part of this community...

Nobody notices this work when it's done right. You arrive to windows open and the beds done and no evidence anybody was there.

That's the job, and it's a local one.

Inside: two story windows that turn the woods into the view, a wood-burning fireplace, and a deck built for doing nothing in particular. Deer show up most mornings, no effort required. Same 150 shared acres of trails, ponds and river right outside. Quiet, glassed-in, and easy to disappear into for a weekend.

👉 It sits on 150 acres, and most of it is still just forest and trail.
👉 Before it was KOHOE, this land was an all girls camp, then a tennis camp, then a private family retreat.
👉 The people who work here live in this community too.
👉 Nobody in the family invented the name KOHOE. A camper did.

Squiggle House has a past most guests never hear about.

Before it was part of KOHOE, this clearing was the Don Kerbis Tennis Camp. You can still find traces of it along the trails. Somewhere between then and now, the world-renowned Zhou Brothers left their mark on the house itself, a striking mural wrapped across the exterior.

History, art, and 150 acres of trails and river, all attached to one house.
