When we purchased this gal 6 months ago, we were so optimistic about what we could get done–and to call her a fixer upper was being generous. Though her bones were great, she had definitely been neglected and unloved for a while. We excitedly accepted the challenge of removing remnants of the last owner and transforming it into the home we’d dreamt of. We made list after list of things we needed to buy, paint colors, things to do, and timelines–some of which we still reference 😵💫. As time ticked by, we realized we may have underestimated how much we’d have to do…and because I had a flexible schedule, we decided it was most practical that many of my work days could be spent prioritizing making it a place we could actually live. Cue the seemingly endless days and nights of us working on our home!
Slowly the paint colors went up, the smoke smell disappeared, my home office got its Beatles decor hung, and fall decor started going up (yes, it’s fall in our house). Finally, I am back to focusing on real estate, and I can’t help but be grateful for all this experience has given us–a home we love, new friends, a new city to explore, opportunities to learn, and proof that it truly does take a village! I look forward to taking all I’ve learned with this and passing it on to my clients during their transition to home ownership 🏠💜
