After my husband and I got engaged, our first priority was to buy a home together, so after the wedding, we started our search. We saw dozens of homes, but nothing quite fit the picture we had in our minds for our first home together. We didn’t have a lot of money, or a lot of spare time, so something that needed a lot of renovations was not in our plan. At the time, the market was great for buying, but even so, we had a hard time finding a home that checked most of our boxes.
One Sunday, we were being shown several houses in Brookfield. We had one last house in Wauwatosa on the list that day, but our agent hadn’t heard back from the seller so we were told we wouldn’t end up there after all. As we were hopping in our cars to head home, our realtor got a call. He came back to us and said, “Guys! The seller is at her property now and is welcoming us over to take a look!”
It was early October and the sun was shining through the yellow and red leaves that had just begun to turn on the giant old trees that lined the street. As soon as we turned and approached the house, I swear a sun beam landed right on it! I looked over and said, “This is it, I want to live on this street!” I couldn’t hold in my excitement as we toured the yard, toured the house, realized some potential for an expansion renovation down the line….I remember my husband, then fiancé, telling me to contain myself and that I “had a terrible poker face”! We put in an offer that day and we have been so lucky to call it our home ever since. Seven years later, we’ll be bringing our second daughter into this home and are planning more projects to stay here as long as we can. I love this house and our wonderful neighborhood and look forward many more memories here!
It is this kind of story that I want to create for you. Whether you’re looking for a first time home, your forever home or something in between, allow me to help you on your home buying journey and make your real estate hopes come to fruition, just as mine did back then!
