Stargazing: Hatteras Island offers some of the darkest skies east of the Mississippi, making it a prime destination for stargazing year-round, with the clearest views in fall and winter when the air is cooler and less humid.

Top Stargazing Locations:

Cape Hatteras National Seashore – Known for some of the darkest skies in the U.S., perfect for spotting the Milky Way, planets, and constellations. Bring a blanket or chair and enjoy the view from the beach.

Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge – Far from major towns, with dark skies; bring bug spray for night visits.

Rodanthe Pier - view out over the ocean with stars gleaming above.

Salvo Day Use Area – Quiet and open, perfect for a romantic or family night under the stars.

Full Moon Climbs – At the Bodie Island Lighthouse, offering a unique vantage point for the night sky National Park Service.

Hi everybody!! We added corn hole boards this year!! Also have Bocce court supplies and other outdoor games. We have a beach cart that works great in the sand. Outdoor games are in the chest under the parking area!! Weather is 78 and sunnny...endless blue skies and no wind! We are just waiting on your visit!!
